Lori Taranto - 2015

My Story

My journey to founding Pure Power Pilates wasn't a straight path.

For 15 years, I built a successful career as an interior designer specializing in kitchen and bath design. But when the 2009 mortgage crisis brought the industry to a standstill, I found myself at a crossroads. What initially felt like an unexpected setback became an opportunity to reflect on what truly mattered.

Around that same time, I was still grieving the loss of my mother, who passed away after a 15-year battle with early-onset dementia. She was only 45 when symptoms first appeared. Watching her gradual decline profoundly changed the way I viewed health, aging, and the importance of caring for ourselves before illness forces us to.

Determined to make a meaningful difference, I became certified in STOTT Pilates. What began as a personal commitment to improving my own health quickly became a lifelong passion for helping others move better, feel stronger, and live healthier lives.

In 2011, I founded Pure Power Pilates with a simple mission: to create a welcoming community where people of all ages and abilities could invest in their long-term health through purposeful movement.

Today, every class, every client, and every conversation reminds me why I chose this path. I believe movement is one of the greatest investments we can make in our future, and I am honored to help others build strength, confidence, and resilience for the years ahead.
